Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt,to taste
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon ground mace,
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill weed, minced
  • 2 ounces jarlsberg cheese, in small cubes
  • 1 cup water,(beef stock)
  • 4 ounces jarlsberg cheese, sliced thin
  • 8 ounces bacon,(8 slices)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400° F

  • Step 2: Combine meat, egg, seasoning to taste, onion, Bell peppers , mushrooms and cubed cheese

  • Step 3: Mix together.

  • Step 4: Form a log shape and place in a baking dish.

  • Step 5: Drape the sliced cheese over the meat and then cover with overlapping bacon slices.

  • Step 6: Pour water in baking dish and place in oven.

  • Step 7: Bake for 1 hour.

  • Step 8: If the bacon starts to brown too much cover with a piece of foil. ( I would cover lightly and remove cover last 15 minutes)
