Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons butter,softened
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1⁄3 cup sugar
  • 1 package ( 1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 3 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoons pearl sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle

  • Step 2: Press Start.

  • Step 3: When the dough cycle has finished, divide into three equal portions.

  • Step 4: Roll each piece into a rope 12 to 14 inches long.

  • Step 5: Lay the three ropes side by side, then braid together.

  • Step 6: Tuck the ends underneath

  • Step 7: And place onto a greased baking sheet

  • Step 8: Cover loosely with a warm damp towel, and allow to rise until doubled in bulk.

  • Step 9: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F .

  • Step 10: Brush the braid with beaten egg white and sprinkle with pearl sugar.

  • Step 11: Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
