Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound beef brisket
  • 6 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon dried italian seasoning
  • 7 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 10 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 3 cups white onions, minced
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup spring onions, chopped
  • 14 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 head chinese napa cabbage,shaved
  • Garnish:
  • 2 eggs, hard boiled
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper ,to taste
  • 4 green onion, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oil

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large stock pot

  • Step 2: Heat oil to saute the garlic and onions until fragrant.

  • Step 3: Remove

  • Step 4: Brown the beef brisket and let it cook until the color of the meat turns light brown.

  • Step 5: Add in Worcestershire sauce and let the meat absorb the flavors.

  • Step 6: Add onion mix back in

  • Step 7: Then add the beef broth, seasoning and star anise. let it come to a boil.

  • Step 8: Adjust to low and simmer until beef becomes very tender.

  • Step 9: About 2 hours on low heat .

  • Step 10: Meanwhile

  • Step 11: Toast sliced garlic in oil until browned

  • Step 12: Cook egg noodles

  • Step 13: Drain

  • Step 14: In stock pot

  • Step 15: Remove scum that floats on top and discard the star anise.

  • Step 16: Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 17: Slice beef brisket

  • Step 18: Prepare the cooked egg noodles and chopped chinese cabbage into serving bowls.

  • Step 19: Pour the hot soup and slice of beef brisket into the bowl with noodles.

  • Step 20: Garnish with sliced boiled egg and spring onions and lots of toasted garlic on top.
