Step 1: Add 1 teaspoon baking soda to 6 cups water.
Step 2: Bring water to a boil.
Step 3: Sort through beans for debris.
Step 4: Add navy beans to water.
Step 5: Boil 10 minutes.
Step 6: Turn off heat.
Step 7: Cover pot.
Step 8: Let sit overnight.
Step 9: Next morning
Step 10: Rinse beans well.
Step 11: Add beans and and rest of ingredients
Step 12: In the crockpot
Step 13: Use enough water to just cover the beans.
Step 14: Start out on high for 2 hours and then about another 4 hours on low.
Step 15: Stir every hour and add water as necessary.Once
Step 16: The bean achieved the desired consistency, thick and creamy,they are done.
Step 17: Check and see if they need more salt
