  • 3⁄4 cup water,warm
  • 2 1⁄4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1⁄4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1⁄2 cups flour, sifted
  • Streusel:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1⁄3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mixing bowl dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for about 10 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add sugar and salt and about half the flour.

  • Step 3: Beat thoroughly 2 minutes.

  • Step 4: Add egg and butter (or shortening )

  • Step 5: Beat in rest of flour gradually until smooth.

  • Step 6: Drop small spoonfuls over entire bottom of 9 inch greased pan.

  • Step 7: Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk about 1 hour.

  • Step 8: Meanwhile

  • Step 9: Combine the streusel ingredients and sprinkle over the bread before cooking.

  • Step 10: Heat oven to 375 degrees and bake 30-35 minutes.

  • Step 11: Immediately turn out of pan to avoid sticking.

  • Step 12: Serve warm.
