  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 whole allspice
  • 1⁄2 cup cornstarch

How to Make

  • Step 1: Take 1/2 bushel tomatoes cut up in small pieces.

  • Step 2: Cook strain

  • Step 3: And to each gallon juice add 1 pint vinegar.

  • Step 4: 2 tablespoons salt.

  • Step 5: 1 small cup sugar.

  • Step 6: 1 level teaspoon red pepper

  • Step 7: 1 heaping teaspoon ground mustard

  • Step 8: Cinnamon cloves and allspice

  • Step 9: Tie spices in cloth

  • Step 10: Remove when done

  • Step 11: Cooking 2 hours

  • Step 12: Then add 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • Step 13: And then cook 15 minutes more

  • Step 14: Bottle and seal.
