Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 (19 ounce) jar wine cured sauerkraut
  • 1/2 pound bacon, chopped, crisp fried
  • 1 large carrot, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons celery leaves, chopped
  • 1 beef bouillon cube, softened in 4 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 (8 ounce) smoked sausage (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Rinse the sauerkraut well, squeeze as dry as you can get it

  • Step 2: Fry your bacon until crisp, remove, set aside

  • Step 3: Drain off most of the bacon grease, add onions and carrots to the pan and saute for about 8 minutes

  • Step 4: Add remaining ingredients and the bacon, simmer until the wine has almost evaporated Serve and enjoy now or place in an oven proof casserole

  • Step 5: Pop a smoked sausage on top, cover bake in 350f oven for 30 minutes, uncover bake for a further 15 minutes
