Step 1: In a saucepan over medium high heat add the raisins and water and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes and then let cool to room temperature.
Step 2: In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugars together. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Step 3: Stir in the remaining ingredients (baking soda - nuts). Pour in the raisins and the juice (from boiling the raisins); stir well to combine.
Step 4: Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheets.
Step 5: Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes.
Step 6: We made 3 dozen from this recipe but the original recipe says it should make 6 dozen.
