  • 6 tablespoons butter, very cold, cut into cubes
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk, very cold
  • Topping:
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 425F.

  • Step 2: Spray Pam on cookie sheet

  • Step 3: Set aside.

  • Step 4: In a large mixing bowl

  • Step 5: Whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  • Step 6: Add butter and use a pastry blender to break it down until the largest pieces are the size of small peas.

  • Step 7: Stir in buttermilk until a dough forms.

  • Step 8: Flour a surface and your fingertips.

  • Step 9: Turn dough onto the surface and pat until it’s 1/2-inch thick.

  • Step 10: Use a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter to cut biscuits.

  • Step 11: Make sure to cut directly down—do not twist.

  • Step 12: Place cut biscuits a couple of inches apart on prepared baking sheet.

  • Step 13: Bake biscuits 12 minutes, or until browned
