Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Tomato gravy:
  • 3 tablespoon bacon grease
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (15 ounce) italian diced tomatoes, (seasoned with basil, garlic & oregano)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix the beef and make patties

  • Step 2: Add bacon grease

  • Step 3: Cook patties until browned

  • Step 4: Remove

  • Step 5: Add flour to pan and whisk to incorporate.

  • Step 6: Continue cooking and whisking for about 3-4 minutes or until roux is medium brown.

  • Step 7: Add beef stock and continue whisking for 2-3 minutes or until gravy starts to thicken a little (gravy will be thin).

  • Step 8: Whisk in sugar, salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 9: Pour in diced tomatoes .

  • Step 10: Turn heat up until mixture comes to a gentle boil. Whisking occasionally.

  • Step 11: Next, add hamburger steaks to gravy, reduce heat to medium and continue cooking uncovered
