Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef ,(80 to 85% lean)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup panko crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley,minced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups onions, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons dry onion soup mix
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 onces parmesan cheese,(1/4 cup freshly shredded)
  • 5 ounces provolone cheese,(5 slices)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In bowl

  • Step 2: Mix together ground beef, egg, Panko crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and parsley.

  • Step 3: Shape mixture into 6 oval patties.

  • Step 4: Heat 1 teaspoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

  • Step 5: Add beef patties and cook 4 minutes per side.

  • Step 6: Remove from pan and set aside.

  • Step 7: Add the 4 tablespoons of butter and melt over medium heat.

  • Step 8: Add onions and cook, stirring frequently for 10 minutes.

  • Step 9: Turn heat down if they start to burn.

  • Step 10: Stir in the sugar when they are about halfway cooked.

  • Step 11: Sprinkle the flour into the skillet.

  • Step 12: Cook and stir for 1 minute.

  • Step 13: Add the tomato paste

  • Step 14: Gradually whisk in the broth and bring to a simmer.

  • Step 15: Stir in thyme and dry onion soup mix

  • Step 16: Place ground beef patties back in skillet.

  • Step 17: Check gravy for seasoning and add salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 18: Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on top of each patty.

  • Step 19: Fold each piece of Provolone cheese and half and place one on top of each patty.

  • Step 20: Turn heat down to low.

  • Step 21: Cover pan
