Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups oats (rolled)
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 cardamom pods (seeds only and ground)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 28 grams pitted dates (chopped, 4 dates)
  • 1 teaspoon water (rose water)
  • 28 grams coconut oil (optional, you can sub in butter or olive oil, 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seed (other seeds or nuts may be used instead or in addition)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan over medium heat add the oats, milk and water and then add the next 3 ingredients (-salt) and simmer for 5 minutes until the oats soften, stirring. The more you stir the creamer it will be.

  • Step 2: Stir in dates and rose water and cook for one more minute or until the dates are warmed - this is also the time to add the optional fat (coconut oil or butter).

  • Step 3: Spoon into bowls and top with the ground flax seeds and drizzle with date syrup if desired.
