Step 2: Saute onion celery and carrots
Step 3: Until softened
Step 4: Add garlic and tomato paste
Step 5: Add lentils stir
Step 6: Add water
Step 7: And bay leaf and thyme
Step 8: Simmer 45 minutes until lentils are soft
Step 9: Add water if needed
Step 10: Add pasta cook 10 more minutes
Step 11: Add parsley
Step 12: Season to taste
Step 13: Take out bay leaf
