Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Step 2: Mix first 7 ingredients (beef through pepper). DON'T add the Montreal seasoning, that's for later.
Step 3: Place beef mixture into an ungreased 10x13 pan and spread evenly edge to edge.
Step 4: Prick with a fork several times throughout. Sprinkle with Montreal seasoning, to taste.
Step 5: Bake 10-12 minutes until juices are clear then pour off the grease, by tilting pan carefully.
Step 6: Cut immediately into square patties to proportionately match the size of the buns, top with cheese and add desired toppings as suggested. In addition to the suggested toppings, we've had them plain just with cheese, topped with bbq sauce, bacon, lettuce, yada, yada, they are always delicous.
