  • 2 1⁄4 cups bisquick
  • 2⁄3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon shortening, melted
  • 2 tablespoons butter,melted for brushing

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 450°F.

  • Step 2: Mix the Bisquick, buttermilk and sugar together in a bowl.

  • Step 3: Add the melted shortening into the batter.

  • Step 4: Stir until a soft dough forms.

  • Step 5: Turn out onto a well floured board.

  • Step 6: Knead and pat out.

  • Step 7: Roll 1/2 inch thick.

  • Step 8: Cut out into 2" rounds .

  • Step 9: Place close together on an ungreased baking sheet.

  • Step 10: Brush tops with melted butter.

  • Step 11: Bake for 8 minutes until brown

  • Step 12: When you remove the biscuits from the oven, brush the tops with melted butter again.
