Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 pound smoked sausage, diagonally cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups potatoes, diced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped apple (peeled and cored first)
  • 12 fluid ounces your favorite ale or beer
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat for 3 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove sausage and set aside.

  • Step 2: Heat oil in skillet, add onions and potatoes and cook until golden brown.

  • Step 3: Before potatoes are quite done, add chopped apple.

  • Step 4: Add beer, sauerkraut and mustard to skillet, mixing until blended with potatoes, etc.

  • Step 5: Cook over medium-high heat for a couple minutes.

  • Step 6: Return the sausage to the skillet, continue cooking about 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
