Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups onions, chopped
  • 3 carrots,sliced
  • 3 mushrooms,sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 ounces sour cream,(1 cup)
  • 1 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cans(28 ounces) sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained,(14 ounces each)
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika paprika

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine the flour, paprika salt and pepper.

  • Step 2: Add beef and toss to coat.

  • Step 3: In a Dutch oven

  • Step 4: Brown the beef in oil in batches

  • Step 5: Add the onions, garlic

  • Step 6: Add dill, caraway, paprika and water.(can add beef bouillon)

  • Step 7: Add beef back in

  • Step 8: Add carrots and mushrooms

  • Step 9: Cover and simmer for 2 hours or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Adding water as needed your braising so water is kept low

  • Step 10: Stir in sour cream and 1 tablespoon flour mixed in

  • Step 11: Heat through but do not boil.

  • Step 12: Heat sauerkraut

  • Step 13: Drain and spoon onto a serving platter. Top with the beef mixture.

  • Step 14: Sprinkle with paprika.
