Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 1⁄2 cup applesauce
  • 1⁄4 cup lard
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄2 tablespoon baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Frosting:
  • 1⁄8 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk(cream)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3⁄4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream sugar and lard. ( i used butter not lard).

  • Step 2: Cook raisins and 2 cups water for 15 minutes.

  • Step 3: And add vanilla

  • Step 4: Add and mix together the mushy applesauce, lard and sugar.

  • Step 5: Add sifted dry ingredients .

  • Step 6: Bake in 9x13 greased pan for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

  • Step 7: Frosting: melt the butter and stir over heat until golden.

  • Step 8: Add cream, water, vanilla and powdered sugar.

  • Step 9: Spread on cake.it gets hard when cooled.
