  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Icing:
  • 1 tablespoons orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon brandy
  • 1 egg yolk,(optional)
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Step 2: Butter and parchment paper 2 9 inch cake pans

  • Step 3: Cream butter

  • Step 4: Gradually add sugar in and beat

  • Step 5: Gradually add water that has 2 tablespoons flour mixed in

  • Step 6: Sift the dry ingredients together

  • Step 7: Mix into creamed mixture beat hard

  • Step 8: Fold in whites

  • Step 9: Pour into prepared pans and bake 15 minutes (until cake leaves side of the pan are the instructions given for time)

  • Step 10: Cool

  • Step 11: For frosting :

  • Step 12: Beat egg yolk until creamy add juices brandy and zest

  • Step 13: Add enough powdered sugar to be stiff enough to spread
