Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 to 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cans (14 ounce each) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans (14 ounce each) stewed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (15 ounce each) dark red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can light red kidney beans undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans undrained
  • 4 to 5 tablespoon chili powder (Use your own judgement,add 4 then taste when heated)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons luzianne cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper (Cayenne pepper) Sometimes I add a teaspoon of this
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or more to taste (IF I don't want to use brown sugar, I add about a 1/4 cup heinz ketchup to fix the acidic of the tomatoes)
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce or to taste
  • Seasoning salt to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Brown the ground beef with diced onion and bell pepper. Season meat with seasoning salt and pepper. Drain.

  • Step 2: In a dutch oven, add all ingredients including the browned meat. Simmer for 30 minutes. Serve! You may need to adjust the seasonings to fit your tastes.

  • Step 3: You can also brown the hamburger and veggies, add all the ingredients to a crock pot and let it simmer for 4 hours on high or 8 on low.
