Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 ounces sliced bacon (thick-sliced, this is 4 slices bacon, like the peppered bacon)
  • 1 shallot, diced
  • 1 1/2 pounds Brussels sprouts (trimmed and halved)
  • Pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Over medium high heat bring a pot of water to a boil.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile in a skillet over medium heat add bacon and cook for 3-5 minute or until it starts to release fat and then add the shallot and continue sautéing until bacon is crisp (3-5 minutes); drain off fat.

  • Step 3: Add brussels sprouts to boiling water and blanch until tender (5-10 minutes); drain. Be careful not to overcook.

  • Step 4: Add brussels sprouts to skillet (with bacon and shallot) and cook over medium heat for a few minutes . Season with pepper (but if you use the peppered bacon you may not need additional pepper).
