Step 1: In a bowl add the eggs and then whisk in the milk, sugar and cardamom.
Step 2: Soak slices of bread into the egg mixture for just a few minutes on each side (this depends on how thick your bread is -- you want the mixture to soak into the bread)
Step 3: In a skillet over medium heat add the butter and oil and when hot add 2 slices of bread; cook for a few minutes until golden and then flip over to cook other side. Remove from pan and dust with confectioners' sugar. Repeat with remaining bread and egg mixture.
Step 4: Should be served immediately topped with your favorite topping -- in our house it is maple syrup and berries if available.
