  • 1/2  cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour ,plus more for rolling
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 degrees

  • Step 2: In a mixing bowl

  • Step 3: Cream butter and sugar together.

  • Step 4: Beat in the egg.

  • Step 5: Sift flour,salt and cornstarch

  • Step 6: Then add in the flour mixture and fold in until completely moistened.

  • Step 7: Press the dough together into a ball and place on a floured workspace.

  • Step 8: Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.

  • Step 9: Use a knife to form squares or rectangles.

  • Step 10: Can emboss top like lorna doones

  • Step 11: Place dough on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

  • Step 12: Place in the preheated oven.

  • Step 13: Bake for 20 minutes at 325 degrees. 

  • Step 14: Remove tray from the oven and let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
