Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 200 grams chicken drumsticks (8 drumsticks specified)
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Vegemite
  • 1/3 cup water, boiling
  • 2 tablespoons chilli sauce (sweet)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon kecap manis
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 red chilli, long and thinly sliced
  • Chinese broccoli, to serve (steamed)
  • Jasmine rice, to serve (steamed)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a large frying pan and cook chicken, turning, for 5 minutes or until browned all over and then add garlic to pan and cook for 1 minute.

  • Step 2: Combine Vegemite and boiling water in a small bowl until smooth and then stir in sauces, sugar and vinegar and add to pan and bring to a simmer and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes and continue to simmer, uncovered, turning chicken occasionally, for 5 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and sauce is sticky.

  • Step 3: Serve chicken with Chinese broccoli and steamed rice and Drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with chilli.
