Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 jar (16 ounces) dill pickle slices
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal (fine)
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • Oil (for frying, 1 quart)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 jar (12 ounces) salad dressing (buttermilk ranch dressing)

How to Make

  • Step 1: You need a deep fryer or a skillet. Heat it to 365° Fahrenheit.

  • Step 2: Set aside a plate or platter and cover with waxed paper or parchment paper. Then, in a small bowl, mix the buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Drain the pickles, then add them in. Set it aside.

  • Step 3: Get a large bowl with a lid. Mix together the flour, cornmeal, seafood seasoning, and the 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning. Add the pickles just a little at a time. Coat them evenly on both sides by shaking the container. Take the pickles out and place them on the plate or platter.

  • Step 4: In several batches, fry the pickles for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown and just crisp on the outside and still moist on the inside. Drain them on some paper towels.

  • Step 5: In a small bowl, mix the ranch dressing and the 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning. Serve this on the side as a dip.
