Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (more to mix in after the rice is cooked)
  • 4 tablespoons oil (any oil you want to use, I use canola)
  • 3 cups dry instant white rice (such as Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's instant rice)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (garlic lovers can increase)
  • 2 envelopes dry onion soup mix (Lipton's)
  • 2 cans (10 ounces each) sliced mushrooms, drained (or fresh sauteed mushrooms)
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 4 large green onions, chopped (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Position oven rack to lowest bottom position.

  • Step 3: Place all ingredients in a minimum 4-quart Dutch oven (except the green onions) mix to combine. Cover with a lid then bake for about 15-20 minutes.

  • Step 4: Remove from oven and stir with a spoon then return to oven and continue baking for another 35-40 minutes or until the rice is soft.

  • Step 5: Remove from oven and allow to sit for 15 minutes.

  • Step 6: Mix in the green onions.

  • Step 7: Mix in more soy sauce if you like.

  • Step 8: Enjoy!
