Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 185 grams melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 425 grams apples (pie apples, drained - draining is optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to moderate 180 degrees C.

  • Step 2: Grease a slice pan or line with baking paper.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl, combine flour, coconut, and sugar and mix in butter and egg and then press half of the mixture into the pan.

  • Step 4: Cover the base with the apples and crumble the remaining mixture over the apples.

  • Step 5: Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Step 6: Cool in pan and then cut into squares.

  • Step 7: I make this in a forced fan oven ( 160 degrees C ) and bake for only 22 minutes. I

  • Step 8: You can also make this in a round cake pan and it works out fine that way as well @ 22 minutes.
