Step 1: Rim a highball glass with salt (see note). Place glass in refrigerator to chill.
Step 2: Pour tequila, simple syrup, lemon juice and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well.
Step 3: Strain into the chilled glass. Top up slowly with the beer, leaving a little foam on top. Serve immediately.
Step 4: *NOTE* use margarita salt, or use a citrus salt. To make citrus salt, combine 2 teaspoons of lemon or lime zest with 1/4 cup kosher salt.
