  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons lemon zest (For more tart flavor, add an additional tablespoon)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium saucepan, add water and sugar together. On high heat, bring to boiling, dissolving the sugar. It should take approximately 10 minutes.

  • Step 2: When done, place the pan on a wire rack to cool. If in a hurry, put the pan in a bowl of ice in the refrigerator.

  • Step 3: Check on it and stir it until it cools.

  • Step 4: Add the juice and zest, stirring until it's combined.

  • Step 5: Pour everything into a non metal container with a lid and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours.

  • Step 6: When it's done chilling, mix it in your ice cream maker according to the directions.
