Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds turnips, peeled, grated
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Garnish :
  • 1/2 cup applesauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a pan

  • Step 2: Have more oil nearby as these need alot .

  • Step 3: Wrap shredded turnips in a clean cloth and wring the heck out of them

  • Step 4: The less moisture, the nicer the final product.

  • Step 5: Place in a mixing bowl.

  • Step 6: Beat two eggs thoroughly

  • Step 7: Add to turnips

  • Step 8: Add celery seed ,pepper and poppy seed and mix in well.

  • Step 9: Using two soup spoons, form patties and set gently in the hot oil.

  • Step 10: Cook for two to three minutes on a side until crisp and brown

  • Step 11: Keep warm on paper-towel covered plate in a low oven (200 degrees)until ready to plate.
