  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Lentils:
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 ounces red lentils,1 cup
  • Garnish:
  • 2 green onions,minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 cups cooked white rice

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium bowl

  • Step 2: Mix together all the sauce ingredients.

  • Step 3: Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat

  • Step 4: Then add the onion

  • Step 5: And sauté for a few minutes until the onion softens and begins to brown.

  • Step 6: Now add the lentils and the sauce.

  • Step 7: Cover and simmer until the lentils are cooked and tender, and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 8 to 10 minutes.

  • Step 8: Serve by spooning over rice, and garnishing with the green onions and sesame seeds.
