Step 1: Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Step 2: On one slice of bread, place one slice of cheese. Top with ham and jalapeno pepper slices. Place second slice on top of meat/cheese pile then top with the other bread slice.
Step 3: Lightly butter both sides of the sandwich before carefully placing it in the skillet.
Step 4: Grill until cheese is melted and bread appears golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
Step 5: Slice crosswise and serve immediately.
