Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound beef round eye steak, cut in 1″ cubes
  • 3 tablespoons bacon grease
  • 1 cup onions, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms,sliced
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pound potatoes, pared ,thinly sliced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: Dredge meat in seasoned flour.

  • Step 3: Place in skillet with bacon grease.

  • Step 4: Brown meat until very brown and crusty, about 15 min each side.

  • Step 5: Add onions and cook until golden brown, about 10 min.

  • Step 6: Put in 2-qt. baking dish.

  • Step 7: Sprinkle with rest of flour and seasonings;

  • Step 8: Pour water over top.

  • Step 9: Bake 45 min to 1 hr, until meat is tender.

  • Step 10: Remove from oven; increase oven temperature to 450 degrees.

  • Step 11: Place potatoes on top in circular pattern

  • Step 12: Sprinkle with salt pepper and paprika.

  • Step 13: Bake 30 minutes more until potatoes tender
