The ingredients are:
  • 1 package (17 ounces)frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 8 ounces cooked ham, diced
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, diced or grated
  • 1 can (8 ounces) pineapple, diced
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat an oven to 400°F.

  • Step 2: Roll out each puff pastry sheet until it measures about 10 by 12 inches.

  • Step 3: Cut each pastry sheet into 12 almost-square pieces.

  • Step 4: Top each piece with cheese, pineappple and ham.

  • Step 5: Brush the edges of the pastry pieces with egg/water mixture

  • Step 6: Then fold each piece in half.

  • Step 7: Press the edges together to seal.

  • Step 8: Place the pasteles on a baking sheet, spacing them about 1/2 inch apart. Brush the tops with the egg mixture.

  • Step 9: Bake the pasteles until golden brown, about 15 minutes.

  • Step 10: Transfer to a plate and serve.
