Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 400 grams spiral pasta
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 30 grams butter
  • 1 brown onion, finely diced
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated and plus extra
  • 425 grams tin tuna in oil, drained
  • 500 grams potato gems
  • A pinch of salt and pepper, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook pasta according to packet instructions and drain and set aside.

  • Step 2: Preheat oven to 200 0C and grease a large casserole dish.

  • Step 3: Heat oil and butter in a large saucepan and add onion and cook over medium heat for 4 minutes until soft and then stir though flour and allow to cook for 1 minute.

  • Step 4: Gradually add milk, whisking to create a smooth sauce and simmer for 2 - 3 minutes to thicken slightly. Season well with salt and pepper, then stir through cheese and add tuna and cooked pasta, and stir to combine.

  • Step 5: Pour pasta mix into prepared casserole dish and top with potato gems and sprinkle over a little extra cheese.

  • Step 6: Bake for 20 minutes or until potato gems are golden and crispy.

  • Step 7: Enjoy with a side salad.
