  • 1⁄2 cup leek,diced
  • 1 clove garlic,smashed
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 32 ounces milk ,(4 cups )
  • 1 can (15 ounces)minced clams with juice
  • 2 pounds potatoes,peeled,chopped
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 ounces heavy cream

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a soup pot

  • Step 2: Melt butter over medium heat.

  • Step 3: Add onion, celery, leeks and garlic and saute for 3 minutes mixing often.

  • Step 4: Remove from the heat and add the flour, mixing well.

  • Step 5: Add milk and whisk vigorously.

  • Step 6: Drain clams and add juice to soup.

  • Step 7: Slowly bring to a boil, stirring often.

  • Step 8: Reduce heat to a simmer and add potatoes and seasonings; simmer 10 minutes.

  • Step 9: Add clams and simmer 8 minutes.

  • Step 10: Finish with heavy cream.

  • Step 11: Dont boil

  • Step 12: Season to taste.
