Step 1: Preheat oven to 300 F
Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine flour, soda, and salt. Mix well with a whisk and set aside.
Step 3: In a large mixer bowl, blend the sugars at medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste. Scrape down sides of bowl, then add eggs and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Add the flour mixture, the coconut, and nuts. Blend at low speed just until combined. Don't overmix.
Step 5: Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 22-24 minutes. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool, flat surface.
