Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 pound beef sirloin roast (sirloin tip roast, used a beef tenderloin).
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons coarsely ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water, cold

How to Make

  • Step 1: Pat the meat to make sure it's dry. Mix the garlic and pepper together, and rub it all over the meat really well. In a large skillet, place some oil, and on medium heat sear the meat for about two minutes on each side.

  • Step 2: Place the meat in a slow cooker that is at least 3 quarts. Mix everything else except the cornstarch and water together in a bowl. Pour it over the roast.

  • Step 3: Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

  • Step 4: Take the roast out and keep warm if need be.

  • Step 5: With a strainer, skim the fat and strain the juices into a pan. Mix cornstarch and water in a bowl until smooth. Add to the pan. Cook; stirring for 1-2 minutes.

  • Step 6: Slice the meat and serve it with the gravy.
