  • 700 grams potatoes, peeled
  • 40 grams butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 100 grams ham (finely diced, omit for a vegetarian option)
  • 1 tablespoon self-raising flour
  • Salt, a pinch to taste
  • Pepper, a pinch to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 210 C.

  • Step 2: Grease two 12 hole patty pans.

  • Step 3: Grate potatoes, then use your hands to squeeze out any excess liquid and drain and place the drained potatoes in a large bowl and season well and then add butter and egg and stir to combine and now stir through cheese and ham and fold through flour.

  • Step 4: Spoon mixture into prepared tins and bake for 20 - 25 minutes until crispy and golden.

  • Step 5: Use a knife to loosen around the edges and release puffs and serve hot with tomato sauce and mayonnaise.
