Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 300 grams garbanzo beans (fresh 1 1/2 cups chickpeas)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoons minced ginger root (peeled)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 3/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup tomato, chopped (seeded)
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon garam masala

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sort and wash chickpeas and then place them in a saucepan covered with water (water level should be 2 inches above the chickpeas) and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes or until tender; drain.

  • Step 2: In a large skillet het the oil over medium heat and then add the next 3 ingredients (-garlic) and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the next three ingredients (-pepper) and cook for another minute. Stir in chickpeas, broth and tomato and continue cooking for 5 minutes or until liquid evaporates. Remove from heat and stir in cilantro and the garam masala.
