Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 16 ounces dry lentils ,soaked overnight , drained
  • 1 cup red onions,chopped
  • 1 cup green bell pepper,chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic,smashed
  • 4 ounces bacon,(4 slices),chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon annetto oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon adobo seasoning
  • 1/4 cup cilantro,minced
  • 5 cups water, they said 6 cups

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook bacon

  • Step 2: Remove

  • Step 3: Add onion ,pepper

  • Step 4: Saute

  • Step 5: Add garlic

  • Step 6: Add seasonings

  • Step 7: Add water, bacon,cilantro and lentils

  • Step 8: (I would bring to a boil and turn down to a simmer)

  • Step 9: Boil until mushy.may need more water

  • Step 10: They said add a fork to make it hotter

  • Step 11: Depending on beans could take as long as an hour

  • Step 12: Stir alot to keep from burning
