Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cups buttermilk
  • 6 ounces plain greek yogurt
  • 1 egg

How to Make

  • Step 1: Adjust the oven rack to the middle position

  • Step 2: Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush a 9 inch baking pan

  • Step 3: Gently combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.

  • Step 4: Slightly beat the egg with the milk ,yogurt and olive oil and stir in to the flour mixture.

  • Step 5: Knead the dough until all the ingredients are fully moistened.

  • Step 6: Turn the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it into a round dome shaped loaf about 9 inch diameter.

  • Step 7: Transfer the dough into the oiled baking tray and score the top in cross shape with a sharp knife.

  • Step 8: Bake the loaf until golden brown, about 40 minutes.

  • Step 9: Once removed from oven, allow soda bread or kulac to cool for 15 minutes in a cooling rack.

  • Step 10: Cover the bread with a plastic wrap
