Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1½ cups unsifted confectioner's sugar
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • 5 ounces Baker's unsweetened chocolate, melted (= 5 squares)
  • 1 pasteurized egg (or 2 egg yolks)
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, at room temperature

How to Make

  • Step 1: After melting the chocolate in the top of a double boiler, add sugar and water to the chocolate all at once, an dblend.

  • Step 2: Add egg, beating afterwards. If using 2 egg yolks, add them one at a time and beat after each addition.

  • Step 3: Then add butter, a tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition.

  • Step 4: Makes 2 cups of frosting or enough to cover the top and sides of a 13"x9"x2" cake or the tops and sides of two 8- or 9-inch layers.
