Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup water (more if you want it thinner)
  • 4 ounces milk (or any non dairy milk if preferred)
  • 1/2 tablespoon tea ( loose leaf black tea)
  • 3 to 5 cardamom pods (green, opened)
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup (or any sweetener)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place a small pot on the stove, and put in everything except the milk and the sweetener.

  • Step 2: Bring it to a boil. Let it boil for 3 to 5 minutes. Once it becomes dark in color, add the milk and continue to simmer for 5 to 10 seconds. Nut based milk may take about a minute. If you want stronger chai, you will also want to simmer longer.

  • Step 3: Strain the drink into your cup and add your sweetener.
