  • 8 ounces onion, sliced or chopped (= 1 medium onion)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Pinch ground ginger
  • Pinch ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • Pinch mace
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) soup

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sauté onions in shortening until deep golden.

  • Step 2: Lower flame and add all spices, cook 10 minutes. Add water if mixture sticks.

  • Step 5: Add lemon juice just before serving.
