Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 can (5 ounce ) evaporated milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • ¼ cup coconut flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: A large bowl

  • Step 2: Add the warm water, evaporated milk, salt, sugar and yeast.

  • Step 3: Set aside for 5 minutes.

  • Step 4: Add egg

  • Step 5: Mix

  • Step 6: Then add 3 ½ cups flour, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, grated coconut and continue mixing by hands or in a stand mixer .

  • Step 7: Turn dough on a lightly floured surface, knead dough until all the ingredients have been fully incorporated and the dough is not too sticky, when touched

  • Step 8: Gradually add the remaining flour if you need to, err on the side of less flour than more flour.

  • Step 9: Knead dough until smooth about 1 -2 minutes.

  • Step 10: Place dough in a greased bowl

  • Step 11: Turning once to coat.

  • Step 12: Cover Loosely with a clean cloth

  • Step 13: Let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled.

  • Step 14: Roll out dough in to 1 inch thick.

  • Step 15: Cut in bite size

  • Step 16: In a deep fat fryer heat oil 350 degrees.

  • Step 17: Fry until golden brown about 3-5 minutes depending on size.

  • Step 18: Remove with a slotted spoon onto paper towels
