Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 pounds skinless chicken breast (fat removed)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces onion, sliced onion (= 1 small onion)
  • 1 sliced garlic clove
  • 4 ounces celery, cut up (= 1-2 stalks)
  • 3 ounces carrot, cut up (= 1 medium carrot)
  • 1½ cups water, hot
  • 2 cups cooked rice (boiled)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add all of the seasonings to the flour and roll the chicken pieces in it.

  • Step 2: Brown chicken in the olive oil in a large skillet.

  • Step 3: Put chicken in a deep casserole with a cover.

  • Step 4: Use the same oil in the skillet to cook the onion, garlic, celery and carrot for 10 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently.

  • Step 5: Put these vegetables into the casserole on top of the chicken pieces.

  • Step 6: Pour 1½ cups hot water over the mixture.

  • Step 7: Bake covered for 1½ hours in preheated 325' F. oven.

  • Step 8: Bone chicken pieces and cut into bite-size bits before serving over the rice.
