Step 1: Put the red onion in a bowl with the vinegar and oil.
Step 2: Toss well and leave to marinate in refrigerator for 1 hour, leaving for flavors to blend.
Step 3: When marinated, remove from fridge and add tomatoes, salt flakes & cracked pepper.
Step 4: Toss salad and just before serving, sprinkle tomato salad with the basil.
Step 5: Serve.
