The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat,cut in 12 pieces
  • 6 ounces bacon,cut in half
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease
  • 1 1/2 cup beef consomme
  • 1 pound pearl onions,peeled
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

How to Make

  • Step 1: Wrap a piece of bacon around each piece of beef

  • Step 2: Secure with toothpicks

  • Step 3: Heat bacon grease

  • Step 4: Season flour and dust meat

  • Step 5: Add to grease along with onions

  • Step 6: Brown

  • Step 7: Remove and take out all but 1 tablespoons grease

  • Step 8: Add 1 tablespoon of dusting flour

  • Step 9: Brown

  • Step 10: Add beef consomme and wine

  • Step 11: Stir

  • Step 12: Add beef and onions back in

  • Step 13: Cover

  • Step 14: Simmer 2 hours until beef is tender

  • Step 15: Take toothpicks out before serving
