Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 115 grams butter
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 440 grams apples, sliced (1 can of apple pie sliced specified)
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar (*to decorate)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sift flour and sugar.

  • Step 2: Quickly break the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles crumbs.

  • Step 3: Add egg and gently mix through with a fork until it resembles crumbs.

  • Step 4: Press just under half the mixture into a greased and lined 20cm round tin.

  • Step 5: Top with apple.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle over remaining crumbs.

  • Step 7: Bake at 180C for 40 minutes and then cool on wire rack.

  • Step 8: Dust with icing sugar and a dollop of thickened cream to serve.

  • Step 9: NOTE - you can use other tinned fruit not just apple.
